The Jiwaka Provincial Government has announced over K5.5 million in funding to assist 2,200 eligible students attending various universities and colleges across the country.

Jiwaka Provincial Administrator Rick Kogen announced the initiative today, emphasizing the provincial government’s ongoing commitment to easing the school fee burden on parents and investing in the province's human resources.

Jiwaka Tertiary Students Tuition Fees Coordinator Stanley Wantakson confirmed that administrative teams will begin traveling today to dispatch the subsidy cheques directly to higher education institutions nationwide.

Wantakson said universities will receive a total of K3,375,000, while 36 colleges will receive K2,150,000.

"The team received a total of 3,296 applications," he said. "Following a rigorous screening process, we identified and confirmed 2,200 eligible students to benefit from the tuition fee funding for 2026."

Provincial Administrator Kogen said the student assistance scheme is funded through internal revenue generated by the province last year.

"In 2025, we paid K2,000 for university students and K1,500 for college students," he said. "This year, we have increased the subsidy by an additional K500 due to an increase in our provincial internal revenue."

Jiwaka tertiary students are urged to remain at their respective campuses to receive the provincial school fee teams during their scheduled institutional visits.
