The 21 graduates of East Sepik College of Nursing were strongly urged to meet high standards of professionalism and service delivery in the health sector.

During the school's 5th graduation ceremony held yesterday at Boram Dental Square in Wewak, Governor Allan Bird encouraged the graduating class not to follow the status quo but set high standards when they start their practice.

Bird, who was the then chairman of the Board leading the revival of East Sepik College of Nursing amidst deep corruption, told the students that they are the "beneficiaries of that legacy".

Sharing similar sentiments, the Registra of PNG Nursing Council Romana Kwaisombi stressed on professional responsibility.

"This graduation confirms the completion of your academic pathway but it does not constitute practicing nursing. You must practice with license". Kwaisombi said.

Kwaisombi is the first representative from the PNG Nursing Council to attend the graduation ceremony of East Sepik College of Nursing.

The nursing college has graduated a total of 134 nurses with Diploma in General Nursing since its re-establishment in 2019.
