Yumi FM celebrates 20 years with PNG Musik Awards
Papua New Guinea’s number one Tok Pisin radio station, 93 Yumi FM, will mark two decades of supporting local music this Saturday with the 20th Yumi FM PNG Musik Awards at the Lamana Gold Club.
The ceremony celebrates not only Yumi FM and its parent company PNGFM Limited, but also the legendary artists who have shaped the nation’s sound over two decades.
This year’s theme, “From hauslain to the Stage”, reflects the journey of countless musicians who began singing in backyards and communities before stepping onto the big stage.
PNGFM chief executive officer Esther Gegelagi said the milestone underscores the Awards’ enduring role in recognizing and uplifting local talent.
“For two decades, the Yumi FM PNG Musik Awards has remained committed to celebrating Papua New Guinean musicians, producers, songwriters and creators who continue to shape the sound of our country,” she said.
Saturday night’s event will honor artists from 2024 and 2025 across categories including Male and Female Artist of the Year, Best New Artist, Song and Album of the Year, International Artist, Duo/Group, and Producer of the Year.
The night will also feature live performances from some of the country’s best acts including Anslom Nakikus, Tarvin Tounie and Sharzy.
