Motor Vehicle Insurance Limited has set up an internship program to assist tertiary graduates ensure smooth transition into workplace.

In line with the government's plans to address high unemployment rates in Papua New Guinea, the MVIL has introduced its first internship program.

The program is aimed at bridging the gap between theory and practical experiences for tertiary graduates after years of receiving numerous employment requests from the Stae Owned Enterprice.

MVIL Chief Executive Officer Bafina Koi said though the agency cannot provide permanent employment for all the graduates, he believes with their customer service focus, interns can build their capacity well for opportunities elsewhere.

"We have tasked our Human Resource department to see the internal process in recruitment, how to actually select them. They can be from different fields in, Business, IT, HR, Accounting and Customer Service."

After the first three months, MVIL anticipates to take on board a second lot of graduates who meet appropriate criteria and guidelines set out by them.
