The Usino-Bundi District Development Authority has paid K1 million in Tuition Fee Assistance for tertiary students from the district for the 2026 academic year.

According to local MP, Vincent Kumura; the objective of the TFA rollout is to complement parental efforts, as well as give a fair chance to tertiary students from the district to complete this academic year successfully.

Students have started applying for the TFA and a committee is now screening their applications.

TFA Coordinator, Pius Kumel said the assistance is being set at 50 per cent mark.

“Parents will pay the other 50 percent. However; they must pay the 50 per cent upfront and get their children registered in their respective institutions before applying for the TFA as the DDA account will be opened in March,” he said.

Guarantee letters will be issued the Usino-Bundi DDA to institutions for successful applicants, but only after the screening process is completed.

“In order for the applicants to be eligible, they must meet all the necessary requirements as stated in the application forms,” TFA Coordinator for Bundi LLG Danny Kunda said.

Jeffery Lemeck, Education Program Manager for the district thanked the DDA for the assistance, which he said would relieve the parents.

The presentations of the cheques to the various institutions will be made after the screening process and the successful applicants notified.

The TFA committee will also be liaising with the respective institutions to monitor the students’ academic performances and disciplinary matters this year.
