Police have confirmed that the main instigator of this morning’s fight at Koki Market will face arrest and possible eviction.

National Capital District Metropolitan Superintendent, Warrick Simatab stated that police are working to identify the man from Hela Province who sparked the clash with Wanigela residents.

Once confirmed, police will move swiftly to arrest him and, if he is found to be residing illegally, carry out eviction from the area.

Superintendent Simatab emphasized that illegal settlers occupying land not belonging to them will be removed.

He said the fight, which lasted several minutes, was quickly contained after more than three police units responded, dispersed the crowd, and instructed community leaders to provide the names of those involved.

“Police will identify if the person who instigated the fight resides in an area that requires eviction. If confirmed, police will move in and carry out the eviction as soon as possible,” Superintendent Simatab said.

He commended the swift response of police officers, noting that their actions saved lives and property in the Koki area.

He also acknowledged the support of Port Moresby South leaders, who joined police in conducting awareness to stop the fight and urged community leaders to surrender suspects to authorities.
