K1 million Wenge donation strengthens MLS education and ministry
A K1 million donation from the late Morobe Governor, Luther Akisawa Wenge, is expected to make a lasting impact on the Evangelical Lutheran Church's Martin Luther Seminary [MLS], strengthening both its educational mission and operational capacity.
The contribution was formally acknowledged yesterday during a dedication ceremony of a new coaster bus, that also saw a dummy cheque of K1million presented at the seminary.
This is as per the late Governor's son Mathew Wenge's keynote address, on behalf of the Wenge family, reaffirming his father’s passion for education and human resource development.
"The commitment highlights my late father's commitment to advancing education and institutional development, with the intention to support the seminary’s long-term needs of improving access to further education for Seminary teachers," Wenge said.
According to the MSL Principle, Reverend Gigmai Okuk, the K1 million donation was already used to purchase the new coaster bus and a ride-on lawn mower, as essential assets that will support the seminary’s daily operations.
"The remaining balance has been set aside to assist the teachers with school fees, as a fulfilment of Late Governor Wenge’s vision to empower educators through continued learning," the Reverend confiemed.
He also expressed his sincere appreciation to the Wenge family and local landowners, acknowledging their support in sustaining the seminary, noting that the donation reflects Governor Wenge’s desire to invest not only in infrastructure but also in the people.
