Tigers dominance endures in Kerema
The legacy of the Young Tigers Rugby League club endures, following grand final victories in the Men's A Grade and Under 20 division yesterday [Sunday, November 30th, 2025].
Former club President and leader Tuta Lari applauded the grand final success and described the club as a benchmark in the Gulf-capital- maintaining a nine-year dominance in the Kerema Rugby League competition.
The legacy of the Kerema Urban club continues as the Men's A grade team held off Medix 16-12 in the grand final and their juniors in the Under-20 also finished victorious edging out Pariva Sharks 14-12 in a game that could have gone either way.
Aiding the Tigers in the triumph on Sunday was current Isou representative Kenny Laho, who was instrumental in their four-point victory over the boys from the hospital compound area [Medix].
Tigers Coach and former inter-city player Ilave Sapea commended his players from Siviri, Karaeta and Luluitera villages who gave in the hard yards, ensuring the Tigers continue their legacy as champions of Kerema Rugby League.
Meanwhile in the women's grand final, the Bay Eels defeated the Pariva Sharks and walked away with the champions tag.
A total of K20, 000 from the Kerema MP Thomas Opa was used to purchase trophies and also distributed as cash incentives for the teams.
