Kerema League gets a boost ahead of grand final

Kerema Rugby League in the Gulf Province received a boost from their open Member of Parliament, Thomas Opa, on Sunday.

K20, 000 in cash was presented to the executives of the league to help them run their grand final fixtures scheduled for this Sunday at the Kerema town oval.

The grand final fixtures will feature Young Tigers taking on the Pariva Sharks in the Under 20 men's , the women division will see Bay Eels take on Pariva Sharks while the A Grade men's will feature the Young Tigers and Medix lock horns.

When presenting the funds to the Kerema Rugby League executives, the Kerema MP and Finance Minister also commended the league for running a successful 2025 season as an affiliate of the PNG Rugby Football League.

Also witnessing the presentation of funds was Esa' ala MP and Petroleum Minister Jimmy Maladina and Kairuku MP and Minister for Energy Peter Isoaimo who accompanied the Kerema MP to Kerema town via helicopter.

"I want to congratulate Kerema Rugby League for a successful season and I am here with these two Ministers so they will get to witness this presentation," Opa said.

"They also want to see what we are doing in our districts to support youths, women and our communities."

After making the presentation, the open MP apologised to the executives of Kerema Rugby League that he will not be able to attend the grand final due to other work commitments.

President of Kerema Rugby League Garry Haurahaela said the K20, 000 will cater for the grand final prize monies and trophies.
