Simbu Province is set to return its LLG election writs today with a minor delay caused by ward members lobbying for the presidential seat following their declaration.

The signing and writing of the writ process began on Wednesday, but faced some slowdown as several ward councilors were preoccupied with their presidential campaigns.

Despite this, Simbu Election Manager, Reverend Tom Sine, confirmed that many members have already been sworn in, and the election team is determined to complete the entire process by today.

Salt-Nomane Karamui MP, Francis Alua chartered a helicopter to transport ballot papers from the remote Aiya area in Karamui.

"I want to acknowledge the Member for Salt Nomane Karamui, who helped transport the ballot papers out from Aiya. Without the support, this would drag the counting, return of writs, and other processes," he said.

Rev Sine also acknowledged the Simbu Provincial Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang, and the entire Simbu Police Command for maintaining law and order throughout the election period.

He called on all ward members and presidential hopefuls to carry out their lobbying activities peacefully, respectfully, and within the bounds of the law.

He also appealed to the people of Simbu to take personal responsibility and act as agents of positive change.
