Deputy Prime Minister and Lae MP John Rosso has revealed that the Lae City Authority [LCA] and the National Government are injecting K15 - K20 million annually into Lae’s education sector, an unprecedented level of investment aimed at transforming schools and creating thousands of opportunities for young people.

Speaking at the Lae Secondary School graduation last week, Rosso said the funding has already driven major infrastructure upgrades across the city’s schools and strengthened law and order support.

“Every year we are investing close to maybe K15 to K20 million in education itself, especially for school infrastructure,” he said.

He confirmed that every secondary school in Lae recently received K100,000 for infrastructure work to ensure ongoing education improvements.

Rosso said government and private-sector partnerships, backed by LCA initiatives, have helped create around 10,000 new job opportunities for school leavers and the general public.

He said LCA will now extend its support to high and TVET schools, ensuring development reaches students across all levels in Lae.
