Lae Secondary School proudly celebrated its 22nd graduation ceremony last Friday, awarding certificates to 435 students at a packed school hall. The event was attended by parents, sponsors, students, and distinguished guests, including Deputy Prime Minister and Lae MP John Rosso.

School Principal Christopher Raymond congratulated the graduates on their dedication and hard work, highlighting their strong academic potential. While the official Grade 12 exam results are yet to be released, Mr. Raymond expressed confidence that many students would achieve excellent marks.

“Our final Grade 12 results have not come out yet, but I believe in my heart that many of you sitting here would have done extremely well,” he said.

The ceremony also included words of encouragement from the School’s Governing Council Chairman, Edward Buasin, who urged students to remain resilient in pursuing tertiary education.

“Don’t give up if your offer letter doesn’t arrive immediately. Keep striving and believing in yourself, excellence takes time,” he said.

This year’s graduates mark the final cohort to complete Legal Studies and Accounting under the Standard Based Curriculum. Next year’s students will study Political Science and a new curriculum subject, reflecting the school’s commitment to providing an updated and competitive education.

The graduation ceremony was not just the successful completion of secondary education, but the academic promise of Lae Secondary School students, poised to excel in exams and future tertiary studies.
