The PNG Lewas defeated Namibia by six wickets in the Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series in Thailand yesterday after chasing down a target of 75 with five balls to spare.

Namibia was bowled out for 74 in 19.4 overs, their innings never finding sustained momentum after early wickets reduced them to 2 for 0.

PNG’s bowling attack kept constant pressure throughout the innings.

Leading the attack, Mairi Tom was outstanding with figures of 2 wickets for 8 runs from 3.4 overs, supported by Isabel Toua, who also claimed 2 wickets for 12 runs in her full four-over spell.

Pauke Siaka, Dika Lohia, and Henao Thomas each contributed crucial breakthroughs, restricting Namibia from building any momentum.

Geua Tom kept things tight as well, conceding just 7 runs from her two overs.

In response the Lewas reached 75 for 4 in 19.1 overs, completing the chase through measured batting and smart running between the wickets.

The win gives PNG valuable momentum in the Quadrangular Series as they continue to test themselves against quality emerging sides.
