The Minister for Youth, Religion, Sports and Community Development, Jason Peter, has reinforced the government’s partnership with the church by presenting K50,000 to support the Yabim Seket Conference before officially closing the event on Sunday at Gabmazung Station, Gabsongkeg Village, Samsiga.

The week-long conference, held from 4th to 9th November, brought together delegates from 14 sectors across Markham, Menyamya, Naweai, and Lae Districts under the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea [ELC-PNG]. Hosted by the Wampar Local Level Government, the program focused on strengthening unity, faith, and development partnerships within the Samsiga District.

Minister Peter said government collaboration with the church remains vital for positive social change and community progress.

“The government values the church as a key partner in shaping communities, guiding youth, and driving development at the grassroots,” Peter said.

Wampar Seket president received the K50,000 funding on behalf of the congregation and thanked the Minister for his continued support toward faith-based programs under ELC-PNG’s Samsiga District.

The conference closed with a renewed commitment from both government and church leaders to continue working together to build stronger and more united communities across Morobe Province.
