Youth restores broken water supply to support patients and community
A young graduate from Pacific Adventist University [PAU], specializing in herbal medicine, has taken the initiative to restore a vital water supply system that has long served his community.
Allan Thompson, a graduate from PAU who hails from Raginam village in Markham District saw the water system, which once provided clean water to the villagers, had fallen into disrepair over time.
Moved by the need to help his community, the young man personally funded and carried out maintenance work to revive the supply.
"From my work in herbal medicine and my passion to help patients and the community, I took the initiative to buy the materials myself including a tuffa tank, 400 metres of hose, cement, and other items to help maintain and restore the fresh water system," he said.
The project was initially established in 2012 under the leadership of Markham MP Koni Iguan.
Thompson extended his appreciation to Iguan and his team for their efforts in establishing the water project, which continues to benefit many people today.
"I want to thank our Member for Markham District, Koni Iguan, and his hardworking team for their continuous support to our people. I also want to thank my team, who tirelessly stood beside me and worked hard to make this possible," he added.
This act of community service showcases the strong sense of responsibility among young professionals, blending education, compassion, and action to improve lives at the grassroots level.
