Business confidence maintained as Hagen Central polling nears completion
Business owners and investors in Mt Hagen have been assured that the city remains calm and fully operational amid polling for Hagen Central, with police maintaining order since last Friday.
Western Highlands Provincial Police Commander, Chief Superintendent John Sagom, said social media reports of unrest were exaggerated and that police have successfully managed minor incidents involving council candidate supporters.
“There was a potential scuffle near Kagamuga Airport, but our officers intervened immediately. Police are deployed across the city to ensure safety, and business must continue as normal,” Sagom said.
He stressed that the welfare of the business community is a top priority, with strong police presence ensuring uninterrupted commerce and investor confidence.
Polling across Western Highlands is entering its final stages, with just 14 wards remaining before counting begins.
“Though minor issues may appear on social media, the situation on the ground is stable. Businesses can operate with confidence,” Sagom added.
