WNB PHA new board sworn in

The West New Britain Provincial Health Authority [WNBPHA] is now under the chairmanship of former Provincial Administrator and now New Britain Palm Oil Limited Community Affairs Manager, Steven Raphael.

Mr Raphael and five other new members of the PHA Board were sworn into office in Kimbe today.

He now takes over from former chairman, Professor Dr Mathias Sapuri.

Other new members of the PHA Board include, Hargy Oil Palms Limited Head of Human Resource Department, Darren Stott who is the Business Representative, Kimbe Market Manageress, Diane Mirio who is representing Women on the Board, Catholic Diocese of Kimbe Bishop, Reverend John Bosco Auram-representing the Churches, former Governor Peter Humpreys who is the community representative and Provincial Administrator-Leo Mapmani, representing the provincial government.

After the swearing in, Mr Raphael acknowledged the new composition of the PHA Board while congratulating them.

High on the list of priorities for this new Board is to expedite the process of redeveloping the Kimbe Provincial Hospital into the major specialist hospital for the New Guinea Islands Region.

The project is expected to cost K300 million and is yet to get off the ground despite a groundbreaking ceremony performed by Prime Minister James Marape in 2022.
