The Hambuali community in Hayapuga LLG, Tari-Pori District, Hela Province, will now have access to healthcare services following the official commissioning of the Hambuali Aid Post today.

Hela Provincial Health Authority [HPHA] Chief Executive Officer Dr James Kintwa officially commissioned the building in the presence of residents from the seven wards of the wider Urunawini community, HPHA officers, and other distinguished guests.

The building cost the HPHA more than K400, 000 and houses a dedicated maternity wing.

Dr Kintwa says the National Department of Health’s vision is embedded in the National Health Plan 2021-2030, which aims to achieve Universal Health Coverage and ensure ‘No one is left behind’.

"We are starting off with Hambuali then for Linapini in few week's time,” he said.

Dr Kintwa also announced the intervention of the Tari Pori District Development Authorities commitment to construct a staff house stating that partnership work is vital to ensure people have access to this important service.

He said aid posts are important for the rural population. They serve as the first point of contact for many communities, offering essential medical care and referrals to more advanced facilities when needed.

“By supporting aid posts and addressing the challenges they face, healthcare systems can improve health outcomes and reduce disparities in the rural communities,” he added.

The CEO further elaborated that work on construction of about five aid posts is also underway in the Koroba Lake Kopiago District. Two are completed and will be opened this month. Similar work will be done for aid posts in Komo Hulia and Magarima Districts.

“We want the people to receive these facilities as 50th Independence Anniversary gift,” Dr Kintwa said.
