Primary counting for the Aitape-Lumi By-Election has been successfully completed, with all 29 ballot boxes from the district’s five LLGs counted.

Election Manager Salote Kai says the second phase of the counting process, the quality check, will take place tomorrow, [Wednesday, 6 August].

After a successful count 29 of primary votes Anderson Mise, United Resources Party candidate maintained his lead from count one with a total 19,793 votes, followed by National Alliance Party Candidate Patrick Pruaitch with 9,164, Tony Christie Waisi, Our Party candidaed maintained his third position with 5,844, Cansius Kapu, Paradise Kingdom Party Candidate with 408, followed by Daneil Reim Abiazah from Model Nation Party with 228 and Independent Candidate Paul Aisir with 159 votes.

Before counting was suspended by Returning Officer John Awas, Ms Kai urged all candidates and their supporters to remain calm and cooperate to ensure the counting process is completed successfully and a winning candidate is declared.
