The Western Highlands Provincial Government has presented new vehicles to eight key divisions within its administration.

The move marks PNG’s upcoming 50th Independence Golden Jubilee and highlights a push to improve service delivery.

The eight vehicles were presented to the Divisional heads of each of the divisions as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen public service delivery and acknowledge the hard work of public servants in the province.

The eight divisions that received vehicles include Education, Law and Order, Community Development, Commerce, Finance, Lands, Internal Audit, and MVIL.

Governor Wai Rapa, during the handover ceremony said the initiative marks the beginning of Jubilee celebrations in the province and also aimed at empowering public servants and boosting their capacity to rural and remote communities in the province.

"These vehicles will enable our officers to carry out their duties more efficiently, especially in rural and remote parts of the province. It also is a small way of recognizing the hardwork of our public servants," the Governor said.

Rapa stressed the vehicle is carrying government registration plate number and it must do it's work diligently even if other person gets the Governor seat for Western Highands.

" Look after the vehicles well and carry out the work descripted to you. Do not chew betel nut or drink beer when using the vehicle," stated Rapa.
