NZ PM Luxon addresses PNG Parliament in historic visit

The New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon is in the National Parliament, addressing the house.
He is the first NZ PM to be given this special privilege and second foreign PM to do so.
Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was the first, in 2023.
Speaker Job Pomat warmly welcomed Prime Minister Luxon, saying his visit is a testament to the enduring partnership shared between the two countries.
Pomat says the Parliament house is where the heart of democracy is and they are privileged to host him especially in light of numerous challenges faced in the region.
The Speaker highlighted that New Zealand has been a long-standing development partner of PNG in education, health and infrastructure.
Pomat welcomed Luxon to speak, adding PNG looked forward to deepening further dialogue and partnership already shared between the two countries.
The NZ PM is on a 3-day visit to the country, to commemorate the country's 50th Independence anniversary.
