New road to connect 20,000 people in Kagua-Erave

After more than 50 years of isolation, over 20,000 residents of Imane and surrounding villages in Aiya Local Level Government [LLG] Kagua-Erave District, will soon have road access to essential services such as health clinics, schools, and markets.
Heavy machinery from Wasu Constructions has reached Imane Village, as the development will connect the remote communities of Imane, Rakuare, Sumi, Roalmonda, and nearby areas in Southern Highlands.
Kagua-Erave MP Maina Pano visited the construction site recently, acknowledging the long struggles faced by locals who have had to walk long distances through mountains and dense jungle to reach neighboring districts.
During his visit, Pano presented K300,000 to keep work progressing. This funding is in addition to K1 million already allocated by the District Development Authority [DDA].

According to Pano, a total of K4.5 million is required to complete the road.
Imane Councillor and former Southern Highlands Deputy Governor Joseph Loko said the project will transform lives in the region.
“This road will finally connect our people to the outside world after decades of isolation,” Loko said.
Wasu Constructions Managing Director Solomon Bamu urged the local MP to release the remaining K3.5 million needed to finish construction.
The road will be built in three sections and forms part of the larger Sugu Ring Road plan, which aims to improve transport connectivity and economic opportunities across Kagua-Erave District.
