Mixed reactions in Vanimo and villages after tsunami alert

A tsunami warning shared on social media today triggered mixed reactions across Vanimo and surrounding villages.

In Vanimo Town, residents remained calm. Shops continued trading, and people carried on with their daily routines, although many stayed alert and followed updates closely.

In contrast, people in Lido Village reacted swiftly. Families packed belongings, boarded vehicles, and moved to higher ground, unwilling to take chances.

Waromo Village residents also received the warning but chose not to evacuate. Instead, they kept a close watch on the sea and prepared to act if necessary.

Authorities have not reported any tsunami waves so far. Officials continue to monitor the situation and urge people to remain alert, follow official updates, and prepare for any sudden developments.
