Milne Bay’s Anglican Health Services is planning to move base from its Dogura establishment to Alotau Town, and they’ve been given support to do so by Alotau District.

Established in 1914 at Dogura station, the Anglican Health Services was at one time, the main healthcare provider for Milne Bay.

Over a 100 years later, they’ve contended moving operations to Alotau Town to be both economically sound and efficient given the many hurdles they have to get by to deliver for their part in health care.

Health Manager Newton Orowari tells NBC Online they’ve seen the costs rise trying to live in Dogura but actually needing to be in Alotau for any service progress and have sought support from the Anglican Health Board and Milne Bay Provincial Health Authority to do so.

In support of the move, Alotau District has given them K20,000 to secure land for staff housing out at Mutuyuwa while negotiations for a headquarter plot in Alotau Town are underway.

Anglican Health Services currently oversees 5 health centers and 5 health posts all within the Alotau District.
