Motu Koita women’s representatives confirmed, Chairman elimination’s underway

Counting for the two Women’s Representative seats in the Motu Koita Assembly has concluded, with both winning candidates surpassing the absolute majority threshold.

Mere Daera has been elected as the Women’s Representative for Motu Koita West with 1,876 votes, while Gorame Momo has secured the Motu Koita East seat with 1,251 votes.

Official declarations for both women, along with the 14 elected ward members and the Chairman’s seat, will be conducted together once counting is completed.

Meanwhile, counting for the Chairman’s seat is currently in the elimination phase, with four candidates eliminated so far.

Following the third exclusion of Fred Oala, who polled 1,248 votes, his ballot papers were distributed as follows:
• Russell Wavik: 382 [Progressive Total – 4,446]
• Miria Naime Ikupu: 211 [Progressive Total – 2,579]
• Dadi Toka Jr: 204 [Progressive Total – 4,109]
• Beatrice Mahuru: 302 [Progressive Total – 2,726]
Total allowable ballot papers: 14,012
Ballot papers counted: 13,857
Votes distributed in this round: 1,098
Exhausted ballot papers: 155
Absolute majority required: 6,929 votes

Next to be eliminated is Miria Naime Ikupu, who holds 2,579 votes.
