Eastern Highlands police staged a memorial parade this morning to remember fallen comrades who dedicated their time in service for the people.

At the National Sports Institute in Goroka, Provincial Police Commander Chief Superintendent John Kale said, "Today within our constabulary here in Eastern Highlands Province, it is fitting that we take this moment to reflect, to remember and to rededicate ourselves to the noble calling we all share".

"Let us honour our fallen comrades by ensuring that their sacrifices were not in vain, Let us honour them by striving to be the best police force we can be every single day.

"We think of our brothers and sisters, members of the PNG Royal Constabulary who have in the course of their duty paid the ultimate price .Their names may or may not be called out in a national stage as they're too many but their dedication, courage and sacrifices echo deeply without our ranks and within the communities they served and protected," he added.

He said Policing in PNG is unique as it demands not only physical bravery but also immense mental strength and an unwavering commitment to justice in often very challenging circumstances.

"Everyday, our offices face dangers ,make difficult decisions, and often put the safety of others before their own.

"To the families of our fallen heroes, I want to address you directly, we know that for you, every day is a form of remembrance. The pain of your loss is a reminder of the risks our officers take.

"We stand with you today and always acknowledging your sacrifice and offering our support," PPC Kale said

He said their loved ones were heroes, and their legacy lives on through the safer communities they helped to build and through their continued commitment to their principles.

Chief Inspector Kale urged the newest recruit to the most senior officers to continue play their role building a police force that truly includes the trust and respect of the people of EHP and PNG as a whole.
