Over 800 students at Divine Word University to face de-registration for second semester

The Divine Word University pinned a list of 848 students who will be de-registered for semester 2 of the 2025 academic year.
The students will now find themselves not having access to meals served at the student mess, Moodle and any ICT Student rendered services.
The students were de-registered due to outstanding fees not paid by the parents or sponsors, especially those students who have not paid 90% of their tuition fee.
Some names of students whose funds from the government’s Tertiary Education Scholarship Assistance Scheme [TESAS] or the approved Higher Education Loan Program [HELP] have not been received by the University.
DWU in a notice stated that the government has not paid the TESAS component of this year, and thus, the institution is running low on funds to operate beyond this semester until the end of the academic year.
The University clarifies that students under government’s HELP or TESAS and found their names on the list should immediately see the Student Finance to sort this out.
“If you are only owing for your TESAS semester one fee component or the only your HELP component and showing on this list of deregistered students, we apologize and advise that you need to see the student finance team to sort your record.
“Student who fall under this will be deregistered in Week 4 [Refer to the prior notice released by the Office of Registrar]
“We ask that you quickly see the student Finance team to ensure your fees are cleared and your student account will be activated. This is when you should have access to all the student resources, student meals if you are residential, student ICT requirements, Moodle and others,” DWU clarified.
The university further clarified that students who have cleared fees before the payment deadline of Friday the 27th June, 2025 but showing on the de-registered list, must quickly see the finance team with copies of payment to settle the account.
Meanwhile de-registered students have until Friday 04th of July [tomorrow] to clear the fees.
