Ijivitari health facilities eye major renovation

Health infrastructure across Ijivitari District in Northern Province is set to undergo a significant facelift, with major renovations planned for ailing health facilities under the 2025 district development budget.
The Ijivitari District Development Authority [DDA] has allocated K2 million for the refurbishment program, which aims to improve access to quality healthcare across the district.
Local MP David Arore confirmed that renovation work has already begun, starting with the Itokama Health Post in Ward 18 of the Afore Local Level Government area.
Arore said the health post at Itokama has now been fully renovated and stocked with essential medical supplies, thanks to the support of the Ijivitari DDA.
Other facilities scheduled for renovation include the Safia and Sakarina health posts, as well as a health facility located in Collingwood Bay under the Tufi LLG.

Arore said the DDA passed a resolution earlier this year, during the 2025 budget session in March, to prioritise health infrastructure development across the district.
He added that health is a critical service, and improving its standards will ensure better and more consistent care for the people.
The local MP said once renovations are complete, the district will continue to support these facilities with medical drugs and other necessary supplies to keep them operating efficiently.
The initiative forms part of a broader plan by the Ijivitari DDA to uplift essential services and ensure rural communities have reliable access to healthcare.
