Helping rural schools: workshop kicks off in Vanimo

The Partnership in Education [PIE] workshop has started in Vanimo at the St. Anthony Guest House.
This event is a collaboration between the Australian and Papua New Guinean governments and Bilum Books Digital Company. Their goal is to improve education by providing teaching materials for schools, especially in rural areas.
During the opening ceremony, Sarah White, the Director of Bilum Books, talked about the company’s mission to help students and teachers with better learning materials.
" We are dedicated to publishing schoolbooks that empower both students and teachers in their classroom. To address critical issues of literacy, especially in early grades, Bilum Books has developed the SBC English series, which includes teacher's guides and textbooks for preparatory, grade one, and grade two." Ms White said.

Ms. White added that this program will help teachers in both the city and rural schools by giving them the support, training, and materials they need to teach better.
This workshop is the ninth one held in West Sepik Province. It will run for two weeks in Vanimo and will also visit other areas like Nuku, Telefomin, and Aitape.
The goal is to bring better teaching resources and literacy programs to schools in rural parts of the country.
By providing these programs, the workshop helps improve education in rural areas, ensuring that more children have the tools they need to learn and succeed.
