The Madang Provincial Administration has imposed a moratorium on hire vehicles by public servants within the administration.

Acting Provincial Administrator, Daniel Aloi; announced this whilst officially assuming office for a period of only three months.

Aloi assured the Governor, Ramsey Pariwa; that he will not entertain requests from public servants for hire cars, meaning this is now suspended.

The Madang Provincial Administration has imposed similar restrictions before, in attempts to save costs, however; they were never adhered to and public servants continued to use hired vehicles, incurring thousands, if not millions of kinas, that are paid for with people’s monies.

The Madang Provincial Administration until today still owes hire car companies a substantial amount of money.

Mr Aloi also stated in his maiden speech during his installation recently that, “our immediate responsibility is to recourse. Mipla mas stretim mipla yet” (we must sort out ourselves).

To all public servants in the province, Mr Aloi said, “we all roll up our sleeves. Either you be at PHA, Police, CIS or other national government departments, we all have a responsibility to this province”.

Aloi said that during his short time in office, they must deliver and conquer what Madang has lost.
