Tropical cyclone Alfred, currently just outside of Papua New Guinea waters, will greatly affect the Samarai-Murua District of Milne Bay Province.

This is according to National Weather Service Meteriologists Benjamin Malai adding that the recent weather warnings have been maintained.

He told NBC News that apart from Milne Bay, Northern and Central Provinces will also be impacted.

He also says that when the cyclone starts moving away, high swell warning will be maintained.

Given the volatility of the atmosphere, it is difficult to predict any dry season this year.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Benjamin Malai made these remarks following questions from this newsroom on the update of the predicted El-nino, initially said to reach its peak between 2025 and 2026.

Adhere to weather warnings

The National Weather Service is strongly urging coastal communities to refrain from going out to sea at this time.

Meteorologist Benjamin Malai told NBC News people must adhere to the weather warnings issued by their office.
