Families and communities at large are staging a peaceful sit-in protest, seeking justice for Late Lina Numbalihi at the Bomana Correctional Institution, outside Port Moresby.

The march led by the Bomana Tarangau Womens Association starting at Gate 28, saw wives and families of Police officers, PNG Defence Soldiers, and surrounding communities expressing sorrow over the 29-year old's death.

Late Lina was alleged to have been tortured by her partner, the father of her two children, on February 8th, at the Murray Barracks single quarters complex, in Port Moresby.

The brutal murder of their beloved daughter, sister and mother Late Lina has sparked outrage hence, calling for swift apprehension of the suspect.

A petition demanding the full cost of medical expenses and repatriation including the apprehension of the suspect and his associates is expected to be received by NCD governor Powes Parkop, PNG DF Commander, Rear Admiral Philip Polewara and acting CS Commissioner, Bernard Nepo.

Women representative, Cathy Kone, when addressing the crowd stated, the fight for women's rights and freedom must continue to end all forms of gender-based violence.

Late Lina was a mother of two who allegedly lost her life earlier this month at the hands of her partner.
