150 recruits of CS urged to uphold discipline

About 150 recruit candidates for the PNG Correctional Services, have been urged to uphold high standards of discipline both in and out of the training college.
Acting CS Commissioner, Bernard Nepo issued this call when addressing the recruit candidates at the opening of the recruit training course at the Bomana Correctional Service College this morning.
The Acting Commissioner stressed that discipline remains a main concern for the CS over the years.
He highlighted that the current trend of lawlessness in the country reflects the lack of discipline in the disciplinary forces.
This crop of recruits are expected to be a part of the solution, by maintaining high standards of discipline both on and off duty.
Mr Nepo warned that any recruit candidate who is found to cross the disciplinary line will be terminated immediately.
The recruitment training course commences on Monday next week and will run for a total of 12 months, three-months on camlus and nine-months field training out in the Correctional institutions.
Whilst at the training, the candidates will go through a vetting process of verifying their medical certificates, police clearance and educational certificates, to ensure only qualified candidates are recruited.
Meantime, this is the first of three batches of recruit training planned for this year going forward, after its last recruitment exercise conducted in 2022.
