The health workers, public servants, and members of the New Ireland Provincial administration and local landowners during were urged by the Provincial Health Authority's CEO, Dr. Stennrad Hiashiri to maintain peace and respect rule of law in homes and communities.

He was speaking this at the community campaign against violence, or protest march, held yesterday in Kavieng town.

The Chief Executive of Dr. Hiashiri said safety and the security of hospital workers are a top priority.

Dr. Hiashiri says the hospital is currently operating with reduced manpower and his staff are working under significant pressure.

Dr. Hiashiri emphasized that if his staff are forced to work in an unsafe environment and experience fear, it could lead to unnecessary issues, potentially including the incorrect administration of medication to patients.

Chief Executive further urged the New Irelanders to allow the law to take its course and refrain from resolving issues through violence.

Dr. Hiashiri said the hospital will reopen for normal operations on Thursday [tomorrow].
