K3.4 million contract signed for Wapenamanda DCDC project

The Wapenamanda District Community Development Center [DCDC] project is now officially set for construction following a contract signing ceremony yesterday at Sambra Haus, Port Moresby.
The K3.4 million project, jointly funded by the Department for Community Development and Religion [DFCDR] and the Wapenamanda District Development Authority [DDA], will feature a double-Storey office complex with over 50 workstations and a Gender-Based Violence Safe House.
DFCDR Secretary, Jerry Ubase, alongside District CEO, Kevin Yati, and Contractor Visionary Works Ltd General Manager, Raymond Yapo, formalized the agreement, paving the way for immediate construction.
Secretary Ubase thanked local MP, Miki Kaeok and the DDA for their commitment to the people-centered project.
"With the contract signed, it is now up to the DDA and the contractor to mobilize materials and deliver the project as agreed. We will only coordinate to ensure the project is delivered as per the agreement signed," Ubase said.
District CEO Kevin Yati thanked the Secretary and his DCDC Project Team for expediting the processes in establishing the DCDC.
“It is a blessing for the people of Wapenamanda and we hope to complete the project before September 16, 2025,” Yati said.
Yapo assured commitment to meeting project specifications and dateline.
The signing was witnessed by DDA Board members, DFCDR senior managers, and the media.
The DCDC project, under DFCDR’s "Going Rural" initiative, aims to extend essential government services to rural communities.
