Fiji acting PM signs Sir Julius condolence book in Suva

The people and government of Fiji have joined other nations in extending their condolences to Papua New Guinea for the passing of one of its founding fathers and former Prime Minister, the late Sir Julius Chan.

The Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Biman Prasad, signed the condolence book for the late Sir Julius Chan at Papua New Guinea's High Commission in Suva.

On behalf of the Government and the people of Fiji,  Prasad expressed his deepest sympathies to the family of Sir Julius Chan and to the people of Papua New Guinea.

Prasad stated that Fiji's relations with Papua New Guinea flourished significantly under Sir Julius' leadership, and his guidance was invaluable during a challenging period in Fiji's history.

The Acting Prime Minister of Fiji said Sir Julius's legacy of wisdom and diplomacy will continue to resonate in the region for many years to come.

Other foreign diplomats in Suva also signed the condolence book on behalf of their countries, including Australia, New Zealand, China, India, South Korea, Samoa, Vanuatu, Germany, France, and others.

The occasion was facilitated by PNG's Acting High Commissioner to Fiji, Bill Olmi, and the staff of the PNG High Commission in Suva.
