Prime Minister James Marape has admitted that the national government is yet to fulfil its commitment to build proper highway connecting Gasmata to Kimbe Town.

He made a commitment to ensure that funding is made available as soon as possible to ensure Gasmata is connected to Kimbe Town.

Prime Minister Marape admitted that funding for this highway and the Kimbe to Kandrian Highway, although captured in the national budget have continuously been diverted to other development priorities.

He apologized to the people of Gasmata for this while highlighting that Governor Sasindran Muthuvel and Rural and Economic Development Minster and Member for Kandrian Gloucester, Joseph Lelang have been constantly pressuring the National government to fund these priority roads.

The Prime Minister also commended the people of Gasmata for continuing to persevere despite the development challenges in the area.

He called on them to maintain their cultures and traditions and not to allow the kind of law and order issues now affecting the country to take root in the area.
