Paradise Private Hospital [PPH] has invested in state-of-the-art kidney dialysis and Transurethral resolution of the prostate [TURP] machines, expanding its healthcare offer in the country.

PPH Chairman Dr Robin Sios at the launch of the new machines this week said the equipment will enhance the hospital’s capacity to deliver secondary and tertiary healthcare services to the community.

“Our people deserve high-quality healthcare, and we are proud to introduce technologies that will make healthcare more effective and efficient,” said Dr. Sios.

Norman Atam, PPH's Deputy Clinical Director, highlighted that the TURP machine is the first of its kind in the country while the new dialysis machine will offer similar services to those currently provided by Pacific International Hospital and Port Moresby General Hospital.

Mr. Atam also said that the first TURP procedure was completed on Tuesday.

"As people age, the prostate enlarges, blocking urine flow.

"If untreated, this leads to kidney damage, requiring dialysis, and thats where they come here for dialysis three times a week, and for full recovery, they go for kidney transplant."

Dr. Sios adds these machines will provide minimally invasive treatment options and help improve healthcare in the country.

He said the cost of treatments will remain affordable for patients.
