Hauskrai program to be finalised, says speaker

Speaker of Parliament Job Pomat has announced that Sir Julius Chan's wake or 'haus krai' program has not been finalised yet.
Pomat and Prime Minister James Marape will meet with the immediate family of late Sir J to discuss the program comprising of the funeral arrangements and burial.
Mr. Pomat said Sir Julius died as a sitting MP, and by law, he will be accorded that respect.
He said the parliament understands that there is a will in place that recognition will be observed.
Hence, the National Government will sit with Sir J's close relatives to iron out this understanding before putting together a program.
Both Pomat and Marape will be at the Apec Terminal to receive the casket of Sir J this afternoon.
Meanwhile, a national haus krai in honor of the late Senior Statesman will be held this Sunday at the Sir John Guise Stadium.
Prime Minister Marape announced this in a conference in Port Moresby today.
All citizens residing in Port Moresby including members of the Diplomatic Corp are urged to attend this important occasion to honor his services rendered to the nation.
Late Sir Julius Chan will be remembered for his contributions towards obtaining the country's independence.
