More public backlash on ministerial appointments

There are more critics on social media accusing the Marape-Rosso government of making these appointments to please coalition partners.
Many people argued that the appointments were unnecessary and costly.
Prime Minister James Marape clarified that the appointment of Our Pati leader and Finschaffen MP Rainbo Paita and Menyamya MP Solen Loifa is to fill up the vacant positions.
Marape said the country is growing and requires a fully-formed cabinet, now consisting of 39 ministers and 12 vice ministers.
“These appointments now fill up a vacant portfolios and will now ensure stability and unity in the government going forward," Marape said.
Meanwhile, Paita was sworn in as Minister Assisting the Prime Minister on special projects, while Loifa became a Vice Minister. Both agreed that the new appointments were critical for government function.
Minister Paita will be receiving full ministerial privileges, while Loifa would receive a salary increase without the full privileges of a minister.
