Enga Provincial Police Commander Chief Superintendent Fred Yakasa has visited the rural Maramuni LLG of Wabag District over the weekend.

The purpose of the visit was to meet with tribal fight warriors and gather their views on how to stop the fights.

Yakasa and his team took more than 6 hours to travel through the thick jungles and steep hills to arrive at the Pasalangus Government station where a number of awareness were carried out on law order issues, tribal fights and the way forward.

Tribal fight warriors from the 13 Council Wards expressed their interest to surrender guns and ammunitions so that they can be burnt.

They expressed that they want government services and wants to corporate fully to pave way for that to happen.

"Once formalities are done and arms are burnt/surrendered, we can look into alternative like recruiting some of you as reservists to uphold law and Order in the area," Chief Supt. Yakasa said.

Yakasa is the first PPC and a high level diplomat to drive to that area via the new road.
