A technical team from the National Broadcasting Corporation is currently in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville to look into boosting NBC radio signals across the region.

The team was in South Bougainville early this week to identify a possible site for a medium wave transmitter which should boost clarity for NBC radio signals, assisting the current FM signals.

The possible transmission site should carry a 10 kilowatt transmitter, which will not only send NBC signals throughout South Bougainville, but also across international boundaries.

South Bougainville has been left in the dark for several years in terms of radio information, mostly about Bougainville and its journey, with the only options of tuning in to radio Australia and SIBC of the Solomon Islands.

The NBC Engineering team, consisting of technical staff, will also be in Buka to sight possible re-ignition of shortwave transmission, using the now idle shortwave transmitter in Buka.

The transmitter only needs parts to be installed to be fully operational, bringing NBC radio signals to the international communities.

The medium wave transmitter and the shortwave transmitter parts have been purchased and are now awaiting their installments for radio signals to be heard once again throughout Bougainville
