K50m distributed as relief package for business houses affected by Black Wednesday

About K50 million relief fund has been distributed to businesses that were affected by the nationwide Civil Unrest in 2024.
Today, January 10th, marked the first year since the tragic incidents of the Black Wednesday which occurred across the country where shops got ransacked.
The K50m relief package dispersed is from the National Government's approved total funding support of K270m as part of its ongoing support towards the business organizations affected by the social turmoil.
Chief Secretary to government Ivan Pomaleu told NBC News, as the country reflects on the past year, the national government has been committed to supporting the local businesses during this challenging time.
He says they have already distributed the first round of payments, totaling approximately 50 million kina to help the businesses recover.
He says currently, they are in the process of preparing the second round of payments.
The Chief Secretary says once the government processes are completed, they will announce the details and release additional support.
Meanwhile, the next round of payments will be announced shortly, and a list of businesses will be provided that will receive this vital support.
