Police have confirmed three deaths and several incidents in the National Capital District [NCD] and Central Province during the Christmas period.

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Benjamin Turi, the NCD/Central Commander, stated that the region remained relatively quiet except for these incidents.

The first death occurred on Thursday at Kwikila Station, where police are now investigating the killing. Authorities have arrested more than ten suspects, who are currently in custody.

The second death happened at Gaire and has been classified as suspicious. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause.

The third reported incident involved the tragic rape and murder of a 17-year-old girl on Saturday morning near the Nine Mile Vitis Industry area. Police have attended to the scene, submitted a report, and are actively investigating the matter.

Commander Turi also reported several stolen motor vehicle cases, including one recovery on Christmas night.

"Police officers on duty located the stolen vehicle, but the suspect managed to escape before their arrival. The vehicle's owner identified it after being contacted by police. Investigations into the case are continuing."

Despite these incidents, Commander Turi commended the public for maintaining a generally peaceful Christmas period. "I want to thank the public for taking responsibility and ensuring a safe celebration.

"I also extend my gratitude to Neighborhood Watch officers, city wardens, security firms, and police officers who worked tirelessly to keep the region safe.

"The festive season operation, which began earlier this month, will continue into the new year," he said.

Commander Turi urged residents of both NCD and Central Province to celebrate responsibly and report any suspicious activities.

To enhance communication, Commander Turi announced that the contact details of all police station commanders and specialist section heads would be published.

He encouraged the public to use these contacts to report crimes or request assistance promptly.
