PM Marape calls for unity in the wake of aviation tragedy

Prime Minister expresses deep sorrow and extends heartfelt condolences to the children and immediate family members of five people who lost their lives in a tragic North Coast Aviation, Britten Norman Islander [P2-NAP] on Sunday in Saruwaged Range of Morobe.

PM Marape describes the incident as a 'heart-wrenching loss of our nation' noting the vital role Aviation plays.

He said the individuals lost in the accident were not just passengers or crew.

"They were cherished family members and vital part of our community, whose contributions enriched the fabric of our nation. Our thoughts and prayers remain with their loved ones during these difficult times," Marape said.

Marape commended the bravery and dedication of Aviation workers across PNG, acknowledging the challenges they face daily to connect isolated and rugged parts of PNG.

"As a nation we have remained of the fragility of life and the importance of standing together in times of sorrow.

"I urge all Papua New Guineans to come together in unity, offering support to the grieving families and honoring the memory of those we have lost," Marape added.

He directed relevant government agencies to provide all necessary assistance to the investigation into the crash, ensuring transparency and accountability.
