Public Outcry demanding justice over the murder of 5-year-old boy

The tragic death of a 5-year-old boy whose body was recovered on Wednesday morning at Vadavada has shaken the whole Port Moresby city with the public making an outcry for the perpetrators to be found and arrested.

The boy who hails from Nipa Kutubu in the Southern Highlands Province was reported missing on Sunday 15th of December at the Byron Shopping Center in the while in company of his grandparents.

The Police Homecide Division have started their investigations as to how a small boy went missing while under the care of two adults and how his body ended up at a near by drain 3 days later.

According to the NCD/Central Commander Benjamin Turi the, the story of the how the boy went missing on Sunday at the Byron Supermarket does not add up.

He says the CCTV footage from the shopping Center does not collaborate with the statements provided by the grand parents of the little boy.

Child Protection Authorities Condemns killing

Meanwhile the acting Director of the National Office for Child & Family Services, Jerry Wap, has issued a strong condemnation regarding the tragic killing of a five-year-old boy, whose lifeless body was discovered along the roadside in Vadavada.

In a statement Mr Wap called for an immediate and thorough investigation to bring the perpetrator to justice.

He says this heinous act reflects a ruthless and senseless disregard for the life of an innocent child.

And reiterated that such crimes are unacceptable in Papua New Guinea.

He says Every child has the fundamental right to be safe and protected from violence and highlighted the broader implications of this tragic event.

The shocking incident has raised alarm within the child protection community, as it highlights a disturbing trend of violence against the most vulnerable members of society.

Mr. Wap has also urged law enforcement agencies to act swiftly in their investigation and called upon community leaders and residents to assist police in identifying the perpetrator quickly.

The acting MD emphasized the National Office for Child & Family Services' commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting children under the Lukautim Piknini Act, which provides legal safeguards for minors.
