North Fly PMV operators urged to strictly observe operational hours

PMV operators along the Kiunga-Tabubil highway in the North fly District of Western province are urged to closely monitor the road traffic rules during this festive season.
The Acting Provincial Police Commander for North Fly Command Inspector Anjap Minata said there is an established operational hour for PMV's operating along Kiunga-Tabubil highway for this festive season which all operators must strictly observe.
"All the PMV operators were urged to strictly adhere to the established operational hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m," Inspector Minata said.
He also encouraged PMV owners are to commercialize their vehicles and register them to ensure they are legally covered.
He further stated that Police will be closely monitoring vehicles, and any white plate vehicle carrying passengers will be considered an offense, with penalties enforced under the Motor Traffic Act.
Inspector Minata has also announced new offenses for the festive season for Alcohol Offense and Traffic offence.
For alcohol offence anyone caught selling or consuming alcohol will be arrested and charged with a K2,000 bail whilst for the Traffic Offense, anyone caught driving an Unlicensed or Unroadworthy vehicle will be arrested and charged on a bail set at K2,000.
