New agriculture training facility opens in Kainantu

Fresh Produce Development Agency celebrated the opening of a state-of-the-art Fabian Chow training centre last Friday, in Kainantu, Eastern Highlands Province.  

The new facility marked yet another significant milestone achievement reflecting proactive collaboration between FPDA and Australia Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade [DFAT] Incentive Fund to enable the growth of horticulture industry which supports bulk of the country's population for food security and income opportunities.

Officiating at the event Agriculture Minister John Boito expressed deep appreciation to the Australian government, DFAT and Incentive Fund for their funding support of K17 million to set up this very important facility.

Minister Boito emphasised the importance of the building and urged the farmers to make use of the facility and look after it.

The facility will be used to run training, building capacity of farmers and players of the value chain as well as other key industry stakeholders and service providers.

Meanwhile FPDA CEO Mark Worinu is grateful to Incentive Fund and DFAT for the massive funding support valued at K17 million to set up this critical facility. Mr. Worinu says the facility aligns with the current government’s priority on agriculture, servicing the hardworking farmers and stakeholders in the agriculture sector.
