First degree graduates from University of Goroka Sepik Campus

A total of 16 graduates are the first to graduate with Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from the University of Goroka’s Sepik Campus.

Keynote speaker Koney Samuel, Secretary for the Department of National Planning and Monitoring challenged the graduating students, staff and parents to focus on agriculture as it is the most important sector in the country.

Secretary Samuel says the agriculture sector can create 500,000 jobs as set out in the Medium Term Development Plan 2023-2027.

Mr. Samuel believes agriculture is the key driver to grow the country’s economy.

UOG Pro Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Matthew Landu, highlighted the university's commitment to producing graduates of high ethical standards and professionalism.

Dr. Landu said the graduates’ must be competent in technical fields and also hardworking, honest and disciplined.

Meanwhile Rose Koyama, a UOG Council Delegate affirmed the university’s strategic expansion to all provinces through its 5-Year Development  Strategic Plan.

She said the university through its Council and Senior Management are implementing a number of reforms to enable UOG and its satellite campus’ to focus on teacher training including knowledge upgrade for all the teachers.

The ceremony highlighted university’s commitment to equipping its graduates to contribute meaningfully to national development and the revitalization of Papua New Guinea's agriculture sector.
