Health workers threaten to strike if allowances are not paid by Sunday

Allied Health Workers in Papua New Guinea plan to strike nationwide if their unpaid allowances are not received by Sunday.
The PNG Allied Health Workers Association members demand their unpaid allowances of K18.2 million dating back to 2012 by the National Department of Health be paid before 1st December.
In a media statement, the Association announced that on October 17th, a meeting was held with Health Minister Elias Kapovore.
During this meeting, they issued an ultimatum regarding a nationwide strike if their award claim is not settled by November 15th. If no payment is made by that date, they will proceed with the strike.
Allied Health Workers are medical professionals in public hospitals who provide patient care at pharmacy services, radiology services, anesthetic services, dental services, radiotherapy services, and physiotherapy services.
